Luxemburg autumn 2003  -  Luxemburg

honden fokkers en hond foto's door Karl Donvil
Luxemburg autumn edition: splendid show with increasing entry numbers. The result for this show was really spectacular. With an entry of 2966 dogs (approximately 200 more then the previous year) this show is coming very close to the spring edition. This is probably due to the splendid selection of judges resulting in an international scala of dogs out 21 different countries. No need to say that both spring and autumn edition of the Luxemburg Championship Show is highly scheduled by every self respecting owner/handler.

First of all I want to apologise for being so late with publishing this article. Just before leaving for this show I had a computer crash that delayed me with one week. Fortunately all my files were safe and here I am with 1700 photos!

Mrs.Rita Trainin from Israel was honoured to award the Best In Show and no doubt that she picked out a spectacular and extremely nice giant, the Irish Wolfhound. It was a difficult decision as the competition was very high and most of the dogs were of exquisite quality. I admired her decision to put the very nice Miniature Dachshound on the second place. It was a rather strange decision too as this dog was placed second in the Best of Group the day before by Mrs. Schulz from Denmark. Strange perhaps, but a BIS judge has her own opinion and she can judge with her taste and experience and the result can differ from the breed judge.

On the third place came a dog that we already saw on the podium at the World Dog Show in Dortmund, winning the group. This confirms the quality of this very lovely Springer Spaniel.

Serious efforts have been done to improve the podium. As one can see on the photos, an impressive wall was placed just behind the podium, illustrated with a large poster of the city of Luxemburg. The podium was also brand new and perhaps a little high for some breeds, but I had the impression that the dogs felt comfortable on it.

The cups were very nice and unusual, selected with good taste. All this proves that managing a show is a job for specialists and that there are always details that can be improved. It was certainly the case here and this edition is worth this upgrade as it grows in importance.
