by Oili Helenius This unique little farmdog almost extinct during the second world war but luckily a couple of Swedish kynologists, Björn von Rosen and Karl-Gustaf Zettersten noticed what was going on and thanks to their and Swedish Kennel Clubs rapid actions we could now see more than one hundred entries in the Winnershow of Swedish Vallhundclub in Simmatorp, Sweden.
In Sweden these small bobtails (some also do have a tail) have been working in the farms propably as long as there have been farms in Sweden. The origin of this breed is not known for sure, but everyone who has met these little fellows has to admitt that they really are something special. Swedish Vallhund Club of Sweden arranges every year the Winner Specialty for the breed and this time it happened in Simmatorp, near Skara. It is located just in the area where Swedish Vallhunds l. Västgötaspets are originally coming from. The showplace was a beutifull old manor with lots of space and beutifull surroundings - a perfect place for this kind of show.
Nils-Arne Törnlöv was invited to judge this year and he got 103 entries - so he had a full day. Many promising young dogs were presented but this time he chose Best of Breed a veteran bitch, Heds Cajsa de Lux (born 20.09.1994) who still was in exellent condition. This is one specialty of this breed, they usually live long and stay in good condition. In this show for example was shown a 16 year old male! Best of Opposite Sex was Championclass male Dangas Agaton Sax who has been very successfull in Sweden this year.
